Yes. You can apply for used car finance online from anywhere in Ireland. Once you submit your application, it will be assessed as part of the finance approval process. If approved, your chosen dealer will guide you through the remaining steps and completion of the finance agreement.

Personal Contract Plan (PCP) is a vehicle finance agreement that combines an initial deposit, fixed monthly repayments and an optional final payment. Part of the vehicle's value is deferred until the end of the agreement, which can help reduce monthly repayments compared with some other finance products. At the end of the agreement, you can choose to return the vehicle (subject to agreed mileage and Vehicle Return Agreement), trade it in for another vehicle, or pay the optional final payment and take ownership of the vehicle.

Hire Purchase (HP) is a finance agreement designed for customers who want to own their vehicle. You pay an initial deposit followed by fixed monthly repayments over an agreed term of up to five years. The vehicle is hired to you during the agreement, and once all payments due under the agreement have been made, ownership transfers to you.

The final balloon payment is the amount remaining at the end of your PCP agreement after you have made your monthly repayments. It is set at the start of the agreement and is equal to the vehicle's Guaranteed Minimum Future Value (GMFV). If you choose to keep the vehicle at the end of the agreement, you will need to settle this amount in line with the terms of your contract.

Yes. Under the Vehicle Return Option Agreement, you may choose to return the vehicle instead of paying the Final Payment. To do so, you must comply with the terms of the Vehicle Return Option Agreement, including returning the vehicle in an Acceptable Return Condition, within the required timeframe and within the agreed kilometre allowance. Charges may apply where the vehicle exceeds the agreed kilometres or does not meet the Acceptable Return Condition requirements.

GMFV stands for Guaranteed Minimum Future Value. It is the agreed future value of your vehicle at the end of your PCP agreement and is determined at the start of the contract. VWFS guarantees this value, subject to the terms of the Vehicle Return Option Agreement, helping to provide greater certainty about the vehicle's future value. If you choose to return the vehicle and meet the requirements of the Vehicle Return Option Agreement, the GMFV is offset against the Final Payment.

If you wish to keep the vehicle at the end of your PCP agreement, you will need to pay the Final Payment set out in your finance agreement. The Final Payment is equal to the Guaranteed Minimum Future Value (GMFV). Once the Final Payment and any other amounts due under the agreement have been settled, ownership of the vehicle transfers to you and the agreement comes to an end.

To return your vehicle under the Vehicle Return Option Agreement, it must meet the Acceptable Return Condition requirements set out in your contract. These requirements allow for normal fair wear and tear but require the vehicle to be in good working order, contain all original equipment supplied with the vehicle, and have been serviced and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended schedule. Additional charges may apply if the vehicle has damage or deterioration beyond fair wear and tear.

Yes. PCP agreements include an agreed kilometre allowance, which is used when calculating your repayments and Guaranteed Minimum Future Value (GMFV). If the vehicle exceeds the agreed kilometre allowance, an Excess Kilometres Charge may apply in accordance with the terms of your agreement. The applicable charge per kilometre is set out in your contract.

As VWFS remains the legal owner of the vehicle during the finance agreement, you should not take the vehicle outside Ireland without VWFS's consent. An exception applies for temporary trips associated with the normal use and enjoyment of the vehicle. If you have any questions about travelling abroad with your vehicle, please contact VWFS before your trip.

If you miss a payment, your account may fall into arrears and VWFS may contact you regarding the overdue amount. Missed payments may affect your credit record and could impact your ability to obtain credit in the future. Interest, fees or other charges may also apply in accordance with your finance agreement.
