Arrears Support
Understanding Arrears and Pre-Arrears
What Are Arrears?
You are considered to be in arrears when a full payment, or part of a payment, has not been made by the date it was due. If this happens, we’ll work with you to understand the situation and help you get back on track.
What Is Pre‑Arrears?
Pre‑arrears means you are not behind on payments yet, but you’ve told us that you may have difficulty meeting future repayments. Letting us know early gives us more time to support you and explore possible solutions.
Consumer Protection Code ‘CPC’ 2026
Volkswagen Financial Services Ireland is required under the Consumer Protection Code to support customers who are in arrears or in pre‑arrears. We will always treat you fairly, consider your circumstances, and work with you to agree the most appropriate solution.
Who is protected by CPC
The CPC 2026 protects individual consumers who use financial products or services for personal use from firms regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.
Under the CPC, consumers are defined as:
- Natural persons
- Groups of natural persons (e.g., clubs or charities)
- Corporate entities with a turnover of €5 million or less, or entities that are part of a group with a turnover of €5 million or less
Warning: If you do not meet the repayments on your agreement, your account will go into arrears. This may affect your credit report, which may limit your ability to access credit in the future.
We understand that circumstances can change, and you may sometimes find it difficult to keep up with your motor finance payments. If you have missed a payment — or think you might miss one — we are here to help.
Our aim is to work with you early to prevent your situation from becoming more challenging.
